Conrod Repairs
Conrod Repair Steps
Our conrod repairs start by checking them for alignment and ’roundness’ to assess whether they can be machined or not.
Conrods Alignment
Conrods are checked for alignment and ’roundness’ to assess whether they can be machined or not. Damaged conrods that are beyond repair are discarded and must be replaced.
Replacing Smallend Bushes
The conrod smallend bush is removed and a new semi-finished bush is fitted.
Machining Smallend Bushes
The new smallend bush is then machined to the correct manufacturer’s specification to ensure the correct piston pin clearance is obtained.
Machining The Bigend Housing
The ‘bigend’ housing of the conrod is machined to within 0.05mm of the finished size and then honed to the recommended manufacturer’s specification.
